Olympics: Cyclists may train in London to prepare for 2012 Games

Article from The Star August 29,2008

Based on observation from The Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) to our cyclist at Beijing Olympic Games 2008, our cyclist has a bright future to win for next 2012 Games in London. I am very agreed and support the MNCF that they take alternative to have a training base overseas in their programme for the 2012 London Olympics Games.

And I also agreed with Deputy President MNCF that they want to switch of venue and exposure the athlete to the competitions in Europe and for training and learn more to strengthen Malaysia’s preparation for the London Games. I suggest that other athletes also take this opportunity to have training in Europe because this can exposure the athletes with the culture, strengthen and exposure the competition in Europe and exchange opinion about any sports.

Do you know our National track riders? Maybe some of you do not know so, here I would like to share their names. There were four people who involved in previous Beijing Olympics Games 2008 which are Azizulhasni Awang, Josiah Ng, Mohd Edrus Yunus and Mohd Rizal Tisin. In my opinion I can say that among of four of them, only Azizulhasni has a big potential. It can see when Azizul was competing with Chris Hoy from Britain, the gap between Azizul and Chris only quarter. I am very impress with him because he success to qualify for next Games in London.

Anyway I am very proud with his achievement because Azizul is still young and did quite well in his first Olympics. He will be better with more exposure. MNCF are also very pleased with their contributions in helping groom talent for our country. They hope to see more new faces.

I would like to wish congratulation to Azizulhasni and other athlete who are doing well in previous Olympics Games Beijing 2008. All the best for Malaysian athletes...
